Pros: * The Mag-alloy weather-sealed body rocks. I came from a T1i where I was getting fed up with the compact/plasticky body. This one feels very solid and sturdy. It’s not really heavy but it grips really well.* The Autofocus is lightning fast, especially if you USM lenses.* 8fps burst! I can get about 20 shots until the buffer fills up on my 133x CF on full RAW* Wireless flash control – I have a 580exII and remote firing works like a champ* Video – i dont use it very much but quality is fine.

Cons: * Sell the 18-135. This is a semi-pro body and buying this camera means you’re serious about photography so therefore you should invest in good glass. * When shooting in low-light and I crop my photos, I am finding more noise than I would like.* On-board flash isn’t great, but for an emergency it’ll work. Other Thoughts: I got in on this body+lens kit when it was 1499. I haven’t found a better price on this since then. I LOVE this camera and am glad I was able to get it thru Newegg.

Pros: Has a metal body, water resistant, 19 AF zones, 100% viewer, full HD video, good battery life, full of features, easy to learn and for the price your getting a professional camera that takes a image just as good as those $4,000 cameras.

Cons: “Cropped Sensor” but.. it’s a trade-off for better death of field control so it’s not a real bad thing. I know some don’t like the sensor cropped but I’m not finding any downsides. Other Thoughts: If this is your first professional grade camera then consider it a investment, most things for this camera costs a lot of money but that’s what professional grade is. This is not a cheap point and shoot camera. This is my first professional grade camera and I’m not disappointed with it at all.

Pros: Great camera, however I have big concerns with the Newegg.

Cons: Possibly grey market, package not sealed, no continuous focus for movie recording (Nikon D3100 addressed this issue). Other Thoughts: Box came to me unsealed. I was surprised to see this for such an expensive product. Additionally, on the side of the battery I found writing “Europe Only”, which leads me to beleive that Newegg, although an authorized dealer is pushing a grey market product. Can someone shed some light into this?

Pros: IQ in high ISO situation. 8 FPS, Many custom options, Great value with pro features, Newegg has (had) the best price of anybody…PERIOD…at this price..they were sold out in less than 30 minutes.

Cons: not much…ok..the 18-135 lens is junk…but for the price…who cares.

Pros: Built like a rock!!! It’s prety heavy and solid to your hands. Very clear 3″ display. Comes with editing software.

Cons: The kit lens!!! The wide angle is terrible the barrel effect is too obvious even to untrain eyes like mine. Most shots I took on either extreme end are soft or looks like it’s out of focus. i got to get me a good lens. Sigh! Other Thoughts: Im still learning this camera. There’s a lot about this camera’s potential that I may not even touch . I’m afraid I’ve taken a bite off something I can’t chew because I’m just a novice and this camera is for experienced photographer. I guess I need to start learning fast!!!

Pros: Re: Focus Elf comments Being a Pro, I want you to keep in mind that the 7D and the 5D are very different beasts. The 7D has an APS-C size sensor, whereas the 5D has a full 35mm sensor size. This means that a 50mm focal length lens is actually 50mm, whereas with the 7D it will have a crop factor of 50mm x 1.6 approximately. Sensor size is directly linked to low light sensitivity and noise. No question the 7D is a newer model and has a host of great new features, including ability to shoot video etc.

    Cons: None

Pros: Great image quality and great low light performance for an APS-C sized sensor. The 7D lives up to all of its expectations. The camera is incredibly well built, and has a reassuring, solid feel to it, with textured grip rubber in all the right places. The kit lens is also very nice, with a useful zoom range and crisp optics for a kit lens.Really, this camera has everything a serious hobbyist or budding professional could want in a DSLR.

Cons: There really aren’t many. Even the price is more than reasonable for the features you get. Most of the gripes you could level at the camera are going to be the matter of taste variety. Other Thoughts: Make sure you get a high performance CF card to accompany the camera. The files are big, especially if you shoot in raw, and a slow CF card will severely limit the potential of the dual DIG!C 4′s to move data. UDMA cards are pretty reasonable these days… an 8GB Sandisk Extreme will give you 1008 full rez JPEGs and is more than fast enough to keep up with the 8FPS bust shooting mode.

    The Focus Elf says:

Pros: Growing up, I always had access to my father’s old Canon, and eventually got a Nikon one year for Christmas with a few lenses, TF and the like. After college and being ‘independent’ the best I could afford was little point and shoot cameras which were light on features that I had been accustomed to, but … priorities after all! Not being a pro, from all the research I have done, the 7d rivals and absconds with many of the benefits of the 5d at close to half the price. Apparently Canon released this camera due to some very competitive offerings from Nikon, and we are all the beneficiaries of this competition. A ‘semi-pro’ quality camera, certainly over-capable of snapping shots of a rambunctious 2 year old and newborn, family, friends, and just casual nature shots. If I haven’t been clear enough I know I will own this camera for at least 10 years, if not more.

Cons: I cannot list any, other than that my memory for manual shooting and camera technical use has waned in the Point and Shoot era to my disappointment, not at all the fault of Canon’s. It is a bit overwhelming stepping into this beast and trying to remember all the old nuances of photography.Provided EF-S lens is somewhat noisy, but takes fantastic shots. Other Thoughts: Moving from the fully manual cameras to the P-A-S variety made me forget the actual technical nature of the camera F-Stop, ISO and the like. If you intend to use this as simply a point and shoot, don’t buy this, you’re paying for features you will not use. I’d recommend a Rebel for that maybe, or the 20D at most. For the average consumer spending this kind of coin on a camera, please don’t skimp on your Compact Flash card or lenses. It will be tempting to buy the cheapest CF card and a lens with maybe 300mm range on it. Don’t bottleneck your camera with slow write speeds and stodgy focusing/soft-focus on range lenses. Think of it like an investment, and buy one high-quality lens per year or whatever your budget will allow. That being said, this kit is great, the lens will be the first thing I replace.
