I purchased my set in June, 2011 it’s the beginning of September now and my set has worked for maybe three weeks altogether.
After installing whole house HD DVRs for Direct TV I had to retire our 15 year old 35″ Mitsubishi that would just not die. Since it wasn’t an HD tv, the once great picture quality had degraded some due to the HD DVR. Our new TV had to fit into our existing entertainment center so I was restricted to a 42″ screen. After much research, I decided on this Panasonic plasma. Setup was quick – we were up and running in about 15 minutes. The picture quality is great, especially after doing some fine tuning. The picture quality is so good and the colors are so vivid that even though we really need a 60″ screen for the size of our room, this 42″ looks great even from a far distance. The flesh tones are realistic and the image is sharp. . One of things I was worried about was the sound quality because many reviews mention this for all flat screens but I have to say the sound on this TV is actually pretty good even with the TV sitting inside a cabinet. I was worried that I would have to buy a sound bar or home theater system right away but to be honest, the sound from the speakers is really good. Of course I never had the old TV hooked up to a home theater system either so I may just be used to it. But the sound quality is really much better than I had expected right out of the box. We have not connected it to the internet yet but we plan to so we can watch Netflix. My only reservation about this TV was that I was concerned about the glare and reflection because our family room gets a bit of sun in the morning hours. So I thought maybe an LCD set would be better. But once we got it set up I didn’t really notice much of an issue with glare at all. Of course there will be some reflection as with any tv with a glass screen but maybe I am just used to it from my old TV. And from what I have read, plasmas still have a bit of an edge over the LCDs overall so I am glad I went with this model. This TV has many features that I have not yet been able to take advantage of since I have only had it for a short time but from what I have seen thus far, I would definitely recommend this TV to anyone.
At first I was just looking for a Plasma to replace our Sony 32″ TV that would not die, then I found this Panasonic HDTV that also had Internet capability. I researched and read all the reviews on this site. This HDTV has alot of great features including SD card reader and USB ports. This HDTV has the option to connect to the Internet via an Ethernet Port or via wireless USB LAN adaptor. At this time, only 2 wireless USB LAN adaptors work on this TV, a Panasonic model, which none of the Best Buy stores around me keep in stock, and a NETGEAR model. I went with the NETGEAR USB LAN adaptor and also upgraded my wireless router to a NETGEAR model listed on Panasonic’s website. This combination works great with all other wireless devices on my network. TV setup was easy, but read instructions first. Plastic base easy to scratch if not careful.

Had a Vizio M420NV that was vandalized. Could not afford to replace it, plus I wanted an app capable television. In walks the TC-P42X3. Plasma has definitely made a comback! Very rich colors, plays Netflix with no problems, and remains clear no matter how fast the screen is moving. I would upgrade features to a 5 if I could figure out how to install other apps in the television.
This plasma was a great buy. As to be expected with a Panasonic, the colors are vibrant and lifelike and the blacks are powerful, unlike back-lit LCDs in the same price range. The resolution is only 1024×768 as opposed to the more desirable 1366×768, which leads to some quality loss in the horizontal resolution. Fortunately, it makes up for this with an amazing picture overall. I would take this television over a 1080p LCD any day. I have a surround sound system, so unfortunately I have little to say about the sound on this set. However, I’m sure it’s perfectly adequate for casual use.
This unit is really nice for the price. Got a great deal from ABT and the next week the price dropped across the board at all stores. ABT’s price was still lower then everyone else’s. The only problem I have is that the unit will NOT play AVI files over the DNLA. It only plays a few types listed in the manual on P. 26. Tried to contact Panasonic about Firmware updates for this but they tell me there are not any. Oh well – just I have to convert any AVIs to MPEGs if I want to stream. I am using this unit hard wired over ethernet and using an over-the-air grid antenna for free local network HD pictures. Has a very strong tuner that pulls in one more network channel than my 55 inch Samsung !
This is my first flat screen tv. My motivation for purchasing it? The 2011 NCAA Women’s basketball championship. I wanted a tv that would allow me to connect my laptop and watch ESPN3.com. This tv allowed me to do that. Also purchased: - NETGEAR – Universal Wi-Fi Adapter - 6′ HDMI cable If you’re a first time buyer of a HDTV, this one is not bad. I also live in an apartment (~650sqf) and the 42″ is not too big or too small. The color/picture comes in several preset levels and they all look great. I love being able to connect to Netflix
Great visual qualities and easy to use. High value item and Panasonic is an amazing brand!

it has superb picture quality for the inexpensive price sound is ok could be better but overall great choice awesome tv
I’ve had a Panasonic 1080p 50″ plasma for about 3 years and it’s a great TV still. I bought a DVD player to connect to Netflix. I wanted a 42″ for my bedroom and I was skeptical about 720p, but thought I would try it. I’m amazed at the quality of 720p. I would definately recommend this TV for picture quality and price. The sound is just sound; not great.
Got this tv mainly for gameing with my playstation 3 but find myself loving just watching hdtv on it more! this tv has such a great picture it is clear and the colors are so so good, blows away my sony kdl-ex500 lcd hdtv, and it has awsome viewing angles no matter where you stand the picture is never washed out, it always looks great. I was a little worried about it only being 720p but trust me as much as i try to tell a difference from it and my 1080p sony lcd the more i notice there isnt really a difference at all. From here on out any new hdtv i buy will be a plasma from panasonic i couldnt be happier as long as panasonic keeps improving there plasmas they made me a lifelong customer. BUY this tv!!!!
Picture quality on this Panasonic model is, I believe, pretty great. I played Star Trek on blu-ray from my laptop onto the TV and I was very much satisfied with the quality of the picture. It is 720p and therefor does not match up to the picture quality of a Samsung 1080p LCD TV (2 of my friends have the 40 in 1080p 120 hz which gives you the feeling of being on set when watching a blu-ray) but it is great for the screen size and my uses. I have not been able to play any games from a playstation 3 or XBox 360 but I am sure the picture will be vivid and clear, in addition the 600 hz will be great for gamers, sports fans, and fast paced movies. Image burn in has been a problem for plasma TVs in the past but one of the associates in store informed me that they have changed the gas (I believe that is what plasmas use) to another that reduces the possibility of burn in, making it take a much longer period of time for anything to burn in. In addition there is a “swipe” feature which slides a bar across the screen to eliminate shadows left on screen after an image has been still for too long. In addition the TV has a factory setting de
This is my first Plasma and I must say that it puts my two year old 42″ LCD HDTV to shame. The colors are excellent and sound is very good. Connected the TV (wired) to my router to watch Netflix movies without any issues. That is one of the reasons I chose this TV aside from the good reviews. Also, upgraded my Satellite service from SD to HD and the picture is fantastic. The only con I can say about this tv is that the glass screen produces some glare.
I use this TV OTA , using a regular home atenna. The picture quality is very good . I was worried that using a atenna would give poor quality like watching standard cable but it is not so. I have seen standard cable on flat screens and that is poor quality video. OTA(over the air) is very good. This TV has a good built in tuner so it picks up most of the channels. There is a 4
