This is a nice walk-arouond lens. The IQ is really awesome and you can tell that it is an L lens. Although it is heavy, this lens is sturdy

Pros: Very nice lens if you find sharp copy. One of mine came not sharp, had to return it. Image quality and sharpness very nice!! Used to be my favorite lens before I went with primes.

Cons: many not sharp copies around.. Other Thoughts: Still have it with all of my Canon primes, still love it after 8 years of owning it.. I sold it ones and then bout it again, but had to buy it twice before I found sharp copy. Many people complain about those faulty copies outter..

Pros: ***Image quality – Only zoom lens that rivals the image quality of the 50mm 1.8F. Even when wide open the image quality is great with balanced saturation, contrast and a very pleasing bokeh. ***Fast lens – Hopefully I will not need to go to the 50mm 1.8F again, though the prime is superb it always had me wondering if only I had a similarly fast zoom lens that was a lot wider than the 50mm. **Weight/Size – Some people have complained about the size and weight of this lens but let me tell you if you have a FF or the XXD/XD series cameras like 40D, 50D or 7D this lens is a perfect match. **Build Quality – It feels very solid and reassuring on my 50D and pairs well with my 70-200 f/4 L. If you are worried that the extending barrel may accumulate dust, no need to worry it’s got a gasket (dust sealing) at the end that blocks any dust from entering the barrel.***Sharpness – This lens is super sharp even in low light and the AF is supper fast.

Cons: ***Limited Usage – This lens is very limited by the focal length and limits the use of this lens as a general purpose walk around lens. If you are into photography as a hobby and don’t mind compromising the image quality a bit then go for the 24-105mm. But if you really care about image quality and want to take low light shots this is the ultimate lens for you. *Bokeh – The bokeh is very good but need to be careful you may end up with a part of your shot out of focus unintentionally (as I found out at a diner table, some of the guests were out of focus due to F2.8) *Reverse extending barrel – The lens barrel is fully extended at 24mm and fully retreated at 70mm. This is a minor inconvenience that takes some getting used to. Other Thoughts: Even with the limited focal length once you get this lens it makes you smile with each shot and it gets impossible to part with it as I have found out.I was pleasantly surprised to get a free Dolica lens case which is perfect for my 70-200mm. Unlike the soft lens case from canon this case actually protects the lens due to its great all round padding.Although I won’t be using it but also included were Dolica UV and ND filters (I got Hoya UV filter)

Great lens. Excellent build quality and fast focus. If it had image stabilization, it would be unbelievable. Had it on a crop body, and it’s even better on a 5dII.

Pros: There’s mixed feelings about this lens, some people love it while others complain it’s not sharp enough. I can tell you my copy is extremely sharp. If for some reason you’re unlucky enough to get a bad copy, send it back to Canon for calibration… remember you just spent $1,300 on a lens, they will fix it if there’s something off. Ok, sharpness is important but it’s not the only thing, what about color? The color from this lens is amazing! It’s up there with some of the best, about as good as any Zeiss I’ve used. Bokeh (quality of the blur, not the amount). Out of this world… as good as any prime I’ve used. Corner sharpness? Up there with the best… the only thing sharper is a 70-200 f/2.8 IS II, or a TS-E 24mm f/3.5. On my Canon 5D Mark II this is easily one of the best lenses I’ve ever owned. The reverse zoom makes the hood block stray light at all focal lengths exceptionally well. Flare is well controlled too. AF is fast, accurate, and quiet. Build is excellent.

Cons: This isn’t really a con, but a 2.8 at this focal length is heavy. If you have weak wrists, they might get a little sore using this for long periods of time. On the up side, if you learn to balance the weight… right hand on the camera, left hand on the lens your forearms and wrists will get used to it. Other Thoughts: The hood is recommended to protect the lens at all times, it’s reverse zoom function can be confusing… you don’t want to zoom the lens right into something on close-up shots. With the hood attached if you ever bang it into something the hood will take damage instead of the glass. If you need a standard focal length AF zoom, and are on Full Frame… this is the best lens for you.

Pros: Where should i start… …let me tell you something this lens is AMAZING!!!…very sharp wide open @ 2.8, color and contrast are very very nice.Since i got this lens on July 8, 2010. I haven’t taken it off my Canon 7D, I did an engagement photo shoot the follow day and all i can say is WOW!!!.I hear people talk about the weight of this lens, trust me its not that heavy, come on guys its a L-lens.

Cons: NONE! Other Thoughts: Why are you here still reading, you should go and buy this lens…and make sure you get it from newegg… good service and fast delivery.

Pros: I bought this lens from the egg over a year ago. I needed a great walk around lens and had the cash to burn. This lens STAYS glued to my 20d unless I shoot baseball games in which case I use a Canon 20 – 200L. This lens is basically as clear as a prime lens. It is great shooting from manual mode as that is what I mostly shoot from. The clarity I get from this lens is stellar. It is easily worth the $ if you are serious about your photography.

Cons: None that I can think of Other Thoughts: Get a good UV filter to protect the glass and do not be cheap as your photo will only be as good as the glass you shoot through.

Pros: Amazing lens gives out awesome bokeh, must have this lens at all cost, very heavy but not a distraction once you see what it puts out, you wanna get creative this lens will give it to you, I have a prime 50 1.4 and this gives it a sharper and more awesome results, if photography is your hobby then you should give this a try, no IS so what at this focal length you do not need it, trust me!! I’m very extremely happy with this lens, it’s paired with a Canon 7D all is good!!

Cons: NONE, it’s worth every penny!! Other Thoughts: Awesome investment it holds it’s value pretty good as with all “L” minus 17-40L uggh! Rent it first and you’ll kow what I’m talking about.

Pros: Simply put, this is the best all-around lens that Canon manufactures. It produces razor-sharp images with startling color and saturation, and at f/2.8 across the zoom range is capable of shooting in all but the dimmest of lighting conditions. The “L” glass (Canon’s professional line of lenses) is simply the best out there, bar none, from any manufacturer. It’s pricey, but well worth it. I use this lens for portrait and wedding photography, landscapes, sports, and anything else that doesn’t require extreme telephoto. In concert with my EF 70-200mm f/4 L USM lens, I find that these two lenses cover just about everything I ever want to shoot. Of the two lenses, if I could pick only one, it would be the 24-70mm, because it’s so versatile and can shoot so many situations (the 70-200mm is also a marvelous, invaluable lens, but at 70mm is limited in wide-angle situations).

Cons: none. Other Thoughts: I’ve owned the 24-70mm for almost a year now. This lens has been a favorite of many since it replaced its well-regarded predecessor, the 28-70mm. It shoots images that are very sharp and have excellent contrast and saturation. It’s sharp wide open and only gets better when stopping down. The USM (Ultrasonic Motor) focuses very fast, and full-time manual focusing is allowed. I’ve thought about buying a 50mm f/1.4, but the results from this lens are so good, I’m having a hard time justifying the purchase. I’ve been nothing but pleased with the pictures I get from the 24-70mm.

Pros: The Sharpest lens. Excellent Image Quality + build.

Cons: Kind of big & heavy. Other Thoughts: I think this is one of the best lens in Canon’s dslr lenses line-up. It is heavy & big but the image quality is excellent. Once you see the images you will forget about the lens weight and size.
