I have friends with samsung and panasonic and they are all jealous of the 3D picture on my LG set. You only need standard 3D glasses, no 79.00 per pair, no batteries, just 12.99 for two pairs. Like most flat screens the HD picture is incredible and the regular picture is grainy. My set cost half of the other brands and I am very happy with it……..

If you want just a 55 inch tv then this is a great TV. If you can afford it, you are WAY better off with the LW5600. I bought the 5300 then returned it for the 5600 could not be happier for the 5600

I am not as impressed with the picture quality of this model as I am with that of the smaller LG that it replaced, which I consider to be an outstanding performer in its own right. I bought this TV mainly to replace that 32″ LG, which occupied our game room. I had been considering a 3D purchase, and would only consider passive 3D because of the ridiculous prices of the active shutter glasses. When I came across this one, I decided to give it a try. The overall picture quality in all modes viewing cable TV seems to be rather “muted” compared to my other TV’s (one is a 55″ DLP, the others are 32″ and 42″ LCD’s), however they do seem to have a “live” look to them that I think gives them more depth (without 2D/3D mode on). I’m slowly getting used to it, but the color intensity is still not up to par as far as I am concerned. DVD’s are another story though. The picture quality there is as vibrant as I expect eminating from the bundled 3D Blu-Ray player. The 2D/3D conversion picture is quite pleasing, but I am still trying to find the right depth setting that makes it optimum. I have not been able to judge the performance on 3D programming or 3D DVD’s because, for one thing my cable provider is asking too much for the one 3D service they offer (ESPN3D), and (much to my chagrin) viewing 3D requires high speed HDMI 1.4 connections, and my current connections are all 1.3! I have ordered high speed replacement cables, and may update this review when I’ve installed them and watched a couple of 3D offerings. My advice would be to preview this set first in a showroom where you can watch normal non-3D programming before buying one, because that is the mode you will probably be using it in the most. It may or may not please you that way. And if you do buy it, be sure to upgrade the software on both the TV and the DVD player first chance you get, They are subject to be a couple of versions old.

I have been watching the price on this TV for a while until I found it at my local Walmart for 1200.00! The thing that really drew me to this tv is the fact that it uses passive 3d. I absolutely hate the expensive and clunky shutter glasses. I watched my first 3d movie the other day and it was simply amazing. The only thing that I would change about the 3d blu-ray player is the fact that it doesn’t have netflix. I wasn’t too worried about the picture with it being an LED, but it is even better than what I thought it would be. Another major decision in buying this tv was motion blur. I had never seen this tv in action and had to go on customer reviews only. Everyone was right, little to no motion blur. Again, extremely happy with this purchase and LG has won me over!

The 3D feature is fantastic and the color and clarity is awesome. Thus far no issues with the system itself and the kids are loving it.

Pros: Amazing Picture quality. 3D is very enjoyable for the kids. Large but relatively light. It takes about 2-3 people to set it up. I would recommend the retractable wall mount. This allows easy setup up of wires etc. Cheaper wall mount at sams club or costco.

Cons: Sound is ok if you are quiet. If you have a large group or room you may want to get a sound bar or surround sound. Also there is no netflix connection and no wifi connection. If we had more money I would go for a model with wifi and netflix etc. Summary: Excellent Picture. Modest Sound. NO netflix or wifi. Definitely go with LED!

The television is great with a clear crisp picture. If you are buying this for the bundled 3d player don’t bother. Read the reviews about the included blu ray player. It is junk. Played one disc and it had to be returned to the store. Now here is the kicker, Best Buy will want to exchange for the same unit that came with the bundle, obviously this one is not sold separately.there is a reason, it’s junk. I will say if you get a manager involved, Best Buy will let you buy an upgraded model at a discount which is what I did. So the savings you obtain getting the bundle are gone at this point. I will say overall I was satisfied with my purchase and Best Buy did the best they could for me locally. I still feel at this price this is a great television so far. The passive 3d experience is awesome, although I won’t recommend watching it all the time. So 4 stars from me.

I’m replacing my 46″ Samsung 1080p, 60hz LCD with this LG model and WOW, does the LED colors stand out! I’m a big gamer and not use to the smooth motion yet, but will be soon. 3D is off the chart, but can’t comment on the sound portion because I have it running through my home thearter. Overall, a GREAT buy for the money…
