Purchased two of these stands for 60″ Sharp and 40″ Samsung LED LCD TVs. First, let me say, Walmart has this particular stand for a hundred dollars less than advertised here so get them to price match it. I probably wouldn’t have bought these if I didn’t get that price match. Initially, I was considering the bare-bones, generic, Pinnacle stands but I am VERY glad I paid extra and got these. Assembly was actually easier than anticipated. The only thing you need is a Philips screwdriver (and some steady hands). The first stand took me about 2 hours to assemble but I was going very slow making sure not to skip any steps. For comparison, the second stand went together in about 45 minutes once I was familiar with the assembly process. Note: I am a complete idiot when it comes to assembling things so the fact that I got both of these together by myself should illustrate how simple the process is. There is a PDF on Altra’s website showing the installation procedure if you are curious. The hard parts of the assembly are that the back and sides of the stand are one huge piece and it can be tricky lifting it by yourself and placing it on the dowels and cams with the proper alignment. It would have been MUCH easier with a second set of hands helping you for this part. Better yet, it would have been easier to have the back and sides as separate pieces!! The second issue with the assembly has been noted by some other reviewers, and that is getting the doors level. On the first stand I assembled, the left and right most cabinet doors fit flush and were perfectly level. The middle door, however, was not level, and thus, would not close because it was clipping the edge of the leftmost door. There are a few screws you loosen or tighten depending on what kind of adjustment you need to make. Curiously, when I put together the second stand, all three doors were level and no adjustments needed to be made at all. YMMV. Lastly, this thing scratches pretty easy, but thankfully they give you a nice little touch up ink pen that does an AMAZING job of masking any hairline scratches. This thing has an amazing amount of room. There are six component shelves (three on each side), and two more in the center compartment. Although it is worth noting the center cabinet is intended for housing a center channel speaker. The center door has a mesh covering allowing the center channel sound to emit when the door is closed. Also, there is a nice drawer in the bottom that is handy for storing game controllers or remotes. I did have a small issue where the sound of the center channel was a bit muffled with the door closed. As I mentioned above, there is a mesh covering over the center door, but it still traps some of the sound. I had to do some fine tuning on my receiver and adjust the specific level of the center channel to compensate for the lost sound. Aesthetically, the stand is beautiful. My 60″ is a near perfect fit width wise and it looks fantastic perched atop the stand. Additionally, the 40″ I have on the other stand looks equally great, even though the stand is intended for much larger (60″-70″) displays. One last thing, this thing is HEAVY and the box is huge. I have an F250 crew cab and the box is so long it doesn’t fit length wise in the back of my cab. I had two carry them in the bed of my truck around my 5th wheel hitch and it was a tight fit. Try and get it delivered.

This looks great with a black, flat screen TV; I would definitely recommend it. However, unless you have a LOT of spare time & patience, PAY the extra fee to have the product assembled. It arrives completely broken down & is quite difficult to piece together.

I had the Geek Squad assemble it, so I can’t speak to the process of putting it together. My only complaint is that due to the design of the side doors, I have to actually open the door on the left (where my components are) in order to use the remote. The wooden separators between the “panes” of the glass interfere with the signal. It’s possible that if I messed with the shelves a bit more it wouldn’t even be an issue. Overall though, it’s well worth the price. I have a 70″ Sharp Aquos and it’s a perfect fit.

I had to go back to the store 2xs because the pieces did not match up and because the front of one of the doors was damaged. I liked the look of the piece but not the quality for the money. When putting it together I tapped the peg in and the side of the piece split. It was a lot of money for the value.

I bought this TV stand because my daughter discovered how to turn up the volume on the reciver and how to eject discs from my ps3. This stand has doors and a place for the center channel speaker so it fit my needs well. I read all the reviews and looked at it in three different Best Buy stores and dispite the bad reviews and that all three were put together wrong I decided to buy it. The stand went together quite quickly and I noticed the mistakes others had made quickly. The only reasons I gave this 4 star instead of 5 is for 1 there isn’t very good cooling and very little cable management. I saw one other stand that had very good cooling and cable management and fans built in but only had one door in the middle so it didn’t fit my needs. 2 the speaker grill is mostly wood covered in cloth with a very small opening for the sound to come through. overall this is a very good TV stand.

We recently purchased this for our new 55″ Vizio LED tv. The main reason for the purchase was it was the perfect size to allow the TV to appear as if it “fill” the top. The assembly was slow going as it took me almost 3.5 hours to assemble. (yes I am mechanically inclined) The directions lacked proper identification of what was front and back on the pieces. This is an issue when the ID stickers are on the wrong side. I believe I took the base section apart at least twice before I had all of the material going the right way. Having to do this meant that a vast majority of the screws did not tighten back up the second time. However, after much frustration I got to the final piece. The top. I had left this piece wrapped in plastic from the beginning just in case I did not finish this project in one sitting. That was my first mistake as I should have looked ALL of the pieces over before starting on the build. As i unwrapped the top I discovered that there was a scratch from the front of the stand to the rear of the stand. Almost the full width. From the factory someone had take a black sharpie and tried to fill it in. This alone was enough for me to be extremely upset. After discovering that scratch I noticed about a dozen more (smaller) scratches that the same thing had been done to. Needless to say I placed it back in the bed of my pickup and returned it to the store for a full refund. I decided to go buy a very similar TV stand from Mathis Brothers for about $200.00 less. Please know that Best buy was extrmemly helpful in this matter and offered to completely unpack another one so that all of the pieces could be inspected. I opted out on this. Considering the time involved in putting this together i felt that one should be assembled for me to make up for the time lost but it was understandable that they could not. Overal I think this product would have been wonderful had it not had these issues.
