Setup was fairly easy on this unit, especially if using HDMI 1.4 cable and as I have, also hooked up to a a Sony 7.1 Audio Receiver with 3D pass thru. Great picture, excellent sound, no problems playing 3D blu ray discs like IMAX “Under The Sea” or “Resident Evil-Afterlife 3D.” My TV is a 3D LG 55LW 6500 and with the Simplink feature, it controls the volume and receiver from the LG remote…nice touch. Also, when you turn off the TV power, the receiver and Blu Ray player will turn off as well. I’m happy with this player, in spite of some poor reviews I read. The only quirk I have experienced is when my wi-fi signal drops below 2.0 while watching streaming, it has locked up and needed to be unplugged to restart the unit. It never happens when I am at over 5.0 MBPS, so I’m ok with this minor and occasional problem. It also did it when I was connected via ethernet cable, so it’s a Cox issue and I don’t fault the player. I just don’t stream when the sigmal is low. Crackle is cool for movies and free, also the internet music stations are really great to listen to with minimal interruptions from commercials. DVD’s load quickly when this featue is enabled, unlike some other brands. In the under 175.00 price range, in my opinion this player is a good value in it’s price class, and gets the job done!

I purchased this player based on the high customer rating since I have had the worst luck with blu ray players. I believe this is the fourth blu ray player I have purchased in 3 years but I won’t get into the problems I had with the previous ones. I decided to keep this one because it found my router effortlessly and streams movies from Amazon seamlessly. I did try Netflix for a few days and it lost the signal but I suspect it was a problem with Netflix since I’ve never had any issues with Amazon. It has a pretty picture and sounds great too. All I wanted was a player that could stream movies, play blu rays and also play DVD-Rs of old home movies. So far, so good, but based on all the bad luck I’ve had with other brands of blu ray players I won’t hold my breath. Seems the industry hasn’t worked all the bugs out of blu ray players. The only thing I don’t like is using the remote to type on the Internet sites but Sony offers an iPad app I might try someday.

Since I’ve purchased this player a few weeks ago I’ve watched about 10-15 films on it. A few have been from my limited Blu-ray collection so they have obviously worked perfectly. I have also watched other, low quality DVDs that have up-converted beautifully. The player is easy to set up and has a thin and wide body, yet short in depth – meaning the player can fit in-between any of your other devices on your stand. The player also has WIFI BUILT-IN which was one of the main reasons I decided to purchase THIS player at it’s price ($150) and I was also very confident with Sony’s brand. I haven’t used the WI-FI BUILT-IN feature yet, but it will be extremely convenient having the ability to stream Pandora and Netflix. It also is a 3D player, which I most likely will never use because I don’t want to upgrade all of my equipment again. Nonetheless another great feature. For those impatient users though I will caution that when turning the device ON you will face a fairly slow load time. Again though that’s just a extremely minor and understandable thing – this is state of the art technology – and you can select the less energy saving option for faster load times, BUT supposedly will cause an internal fan to run after shutting down. If you’re a smart shopper buy this while Best Buy is still giving $20 off any Blu-ray DVD to make the purchase even better.

Very easy to set up and works without any hassels. I only wish I would have seen the deal with the sound system that went with the same DVD player.

I did my research and settled with Sony. I’ve had this player for 2 weeks and I LOVE this blu-ray player. Setting it up was tricky with getting it connected with the wifi and netflix. After turning it on and off a few times during the set up… No problems. The picture (with HDMI cable) is GREAT… load time is quick when compared to other reviews. Connecting to netflix was no longer than with an xBox 360, my buffer was quick. My router is about 25 feet from my player and still no problem! I dont know why others had problems setting it up but with some patients and turning it on and off over and over to set the applications, your good to go!! I recommend this player! :D

This is my first Blu-Ray player and very pleased how easy it was to set up and install this to my new LCD-TV. Even the built-in wireless was simple to set up. A minor drawback is that when accessing Netflix through this device, subtitles are not available at all. When accessing Netflix through my Wii, there is that option. Found out through Sony that this is something that is in their control but right they don’t support it. No big deal, will continue to use the Wii for Netflx then.

Great picture quality and easy to use and setup, i have a 6Mbps connection and it takes to long to connect to the server when you access netflix or any other application, i have to repeat the connection process 3 or 4 times until it gets connected, after that it works great.

After trying another brand for three years, which was constantly in repair, I am glad I switched to Sony.

Integrated WiFi stream NetFlix and any other internet service super fast which mean it will be able to deliver high definition content smoothly. One nice feature from Sony that the WiFi will detect and shown the internet connection speed before streaming. One minor issue with the BD player that it made a bit of spindle noise during the initial power on; other than that, the BD or DVD disc display beautiful color and auto up convert the DVD to 1024 60p. This player beat out all others player in performance and quality; especially the WIFI speed which is horrible slow and is unstable connection for all others brand’s TVs and BD players.

Great feature set: Built-in WiFi, 3D capable, Internet apps (Hulu, Netflix, Crackle, NPR, Vudu) including 3D channels of entertainment make for a win-win package for Blu-Ray 3D player. Much faster than my Samsung Blu-Ray player and better internet apps. User interface looks like a PSP.

I am pleased on both counts. I have never used DVD players much. I probably won’t use this much. I have matched my upgraded TV’s capabilities so I am, at least, technically alligned with the best of state of the art and at a good price when included with the TB

I bought this 3D Blueray player in a package. Great price for 3D capability. It’s quicker and slimmer than my older Sony Blueray players. Con: controller is very basic.

This is the first Blu-Ray player I’ve owned, so I don’t have anything to compare it to. All I know is that after two months of constant use, it still performs as it did when I first set it up and I’m very happy with it. It plays all my DVD’s – both Blu-Ray and standard – with amazing clarity and crisp sound. I don’t subscribe to NetFlix or Hulu, so I can’t speak to the performance of those services. However, I’ve used all of the other offerings (Amazon On Demand, Qriocity, YouTube, Crackle) and have not experienced a single problem, except when there was an especially bad storm. The network kept dropping out, but I can’t attribute that to the player. I’ve even played movies that I’ve downloaded to my PC hard drive. It sometimes has trouble playing .avi files, but plays .wmv and .mpeg files flawlessly, and connecting it to my home network was a snap.

I purchased this product for the latest in blu-ray tech and the built-in wi-fi capability. It is my 1st blu-ray player. It was very easy to set-up the hardware and the wi-fi; now i watch movies more than ever (which was a rare occurrence with my busy schedule vs the time required to rent/return dvds). I am very satisfied with my purchase.
