This Sony Bravia is state of the art with wi-fi and 3-D capability, and we bought it based on an electronic enthusiast’s recommendation. We use it in our family room as our primary TV, and we got the 40-inch size to fit into a built-in wall unit’s space. We access the wi-fi through a Sony Blue Ray player and FIOS router, and it’s as good as a wired connection. We haven’t purchased the glasses or tried the 3-D yet. The HD picture quality is good, with a “you are there” feel to it, but the colors are not as vivid as our son-in-law’s 2009 KDL V5100 model. We expected even better picture quality from a set that is LED edge lit and has the 240 Hz refresh rate. After reading the March 2011 Consumer Reports we knew that no TV had great sound quality, but we were still disappointed. Apparently, the speakers are facing downward, so they might sound better with the TV mounted on the wall rather than on a furniture top. This set would benefit greatly from auxillary or home theater speakers, which we might eventually install. The most noticable and annoying negative is ironically the very audible “bink” sound when turning the set ON. It will surely startle a sleeping dog until the poor animal adapts to it.
