I originally had a 32″ HDTV but I really wanted a 3D TV. I found this model for a reall great price so I bought it. The picture quality is great. The size is perfect for my living room. The sound quality isn’t perfect but it’s very good. I like a lot of the features available on it and it was very easy to set up and figure out how to use. It doesn’t connect to the internet but that’s okay with me because that isn’t what I was looking for. All in all I would suggest this TV for anyone looking to buy a 3D.
This really is an excellent TV and makes a great buy! I was originally shopping for a 42″ 1080P HD plasma TV and was looking for TVs in the $600ish price range. But instead, what I ended up buying was this 43″ 720P plasma 3D TV and have no regrets whatsoever going with a 720P TV instead of 1080P unit. Why? Read on. In my living room, I have a 58″ Samsung 1080P plasma and a Epson Home Cinema 1080P projector so when it came time to looking for a TV for my bedroom, I knew I wanted to go plasma and I THOUGHT I wanted 1080P also. But the fact is, this is a 43″ TV that’s going to be viewed from over 8′ away. At the 720P resolution (1280×720), that will still produce a good pixel density to where our eyes will not really be able to perceive much of a difference (compared to a 43″ 720P TV). Enough about that, let’s talk picture quality. Superb. The colors on this Samsung plasma TV is what makes this my second Samsung plamsa TV. The darks/blacks are nice and dark/black — visually, this level of black producing quality would cost you an arm an a leg for an LED/LCD TV that’s capable of producing comparable black levels. I bought a 3D Blu-Ray player for it and the Samsung 3D glasses to go along and watching 3D movies on it is simply amazing. Sure, I could have purchased a 1080P plasma of this size for around the same price… but for the same price, I’d rather have the 3D capability and the 720P resolution since you. You’ll be very happy with this TV.
This T.V. is the center piece of my den…I love football, movies, and video games…I had this in mind when looking for my upgrade and with 3D Plasma T.V.’s are very affordable. 43″ viewing for $550 with 2-Pairs of 3D glasses. The picture quality is GREAT. I have been enjoying playing my PS3 and XBOX 360 games in high definition and 3D. Remember Model # PN43D490. This TV has plenty of HDMI ports as well as a button on the remote to go from standard (Hi-Def) viewing to 3D viewing. I will be purchasing one for our family room next…I want to remove my 140 lb 32″ CRT dinosaur.
I dare anyone to find a better tv at this price.Since this tv is around the 40″ mark 1080p would have been a waist of time. The internet option(or lack of) doesn’t matter since every 3D blu ray player I have seen has internet capability anyways. Not only did I buy this tv I also had a friend buy one also because I like it that much.If you do have a problem Samsung does stand behind their products.
Please refer to the detailed review by “Blurayman”. Let me add an important note: upgrading the firmware to the latest would result in a much-improved picture, much brighter and thus better in Standard video mode – no longer requiring Dynamic video mode for a brighter picture. Prior to the firmware upgrade (000017), the Standard video mode appeared too dark for viewing, requiring a change to the Dynamic mode. After upgrade, this is no longer necessary. Of course, I wish it were 1080p, but smaller size is more important to me than 1080p. It would play external DVD/Blu Ray source in 1080p, although it is not the same as true 1080p, it is good enough for me. Frankly, I can’t tell any difference without another 1080p TV next to it for comparison. In my biased opinion, this is an awesome TV and for the price on sale, it is compelling. The only thing better in the whole Best Buy store is the 51″ Samsung 1080p plasma.
Don’t let any of the negative reviews of this tv deter you. I actually had just purchased 2 weeks before I got this tv a Samsung 40″ LED which I had actually paid more for, and don’t get me wrong there was not anything at all wrong with it. When I visited Best Buy a couple weeks later I just so happend to stroll by the tv’s and this tv was about 3 displays down from the 1st Samsung I had bought. I had never owned a 3D let alone a plasma but this caught my eye just for the 2D quality even thinking it was only 720p. I felt it looked just as good as the other Samsung I had purchased, and when I noticed the price and the fact it was 3D I immediately begin to ask the sales rep some questions about possible trade and he explained to me no problem if I wanted to exchange but did mention I would need to purchase glasses, but even then my out of pocket would have still been less than a 100 dollars. I left the store and went home and I first read the reviews here and then what really convinced me was I found out Samusng and Best Buy had the promotion going with the 3D TV purchase you got not 1 but 2 pair of 3D glasses free so now it was a no brainer to get this tv. I got this tv home and set up an I have a PS3 and Dish HD dvr and most recently added a 3D Samsung home theatre to it and it all looks fantastic in my opinion and you can set the resolution at 1080 and it looks great! If your looking for an excuse to step up to 3D for the right price then this is no doubt a no brainer!!
This TV is a great item. Reasonable price, easy to use, and looks good.
