I am a complete techno-geek and have been for most of my life (61 years old). I have owned 4 tvs 43″ or larger: a 43″ dlp; a 50″ panny plasma, a 58″ panny plasma, and now this fantastic 64″ Samsung. The 58″ panny was a great plasma tv but the Samsung tops it: 1. bigger screen but barely bigger outside dimensions 2. better picture- the colors are more natural, especially flesh tones 3. lots of access to picture tweaking controls (white balance, color balance, 10p, etc- do an online search for calibration settings)
I really enjoy the crisp clean picture quality and the 3D feature is really nifty. I can enjoy 3D movies as well as 3D DirecTV shows. It’s nice and sleek and fits on my wall nicely. I didn’t rate the sound quality since I have a nice sound system to pump out the sound.
Overall, I’m very happy with the TV. I marked sound quality average, because it does come with internal speakers which are average, but my system has the audio going through our home theater system, so it’s not an issue for me. The 3D is a little complicated to make work with my DirecTV. It doesn’t always sync and I have to turn off the receiver/TV and start them back up sometimes. Watched a college football game and the game view itself is cool. The network needs to put the cameras higher so you don’t get coaches/players on sidelines “jumping” out at you! But that’s a network issue, not the TV’s. The package with the Samsung Blueray player works very well together. Picture quality from PS3 is excellent too.

I recently upgraded from a 55″ Samsung LED, to this 64″ Samsung 3D Plasma. First off…Oh My God! This television is, without a doubt, the absolute BEST one out there. I am not one to jump into anything blindly, so my husband and I spent a week researching and comparing televisions, looking up reviews, and whatnot. Everything pointed to this one, but, since I’d always heard plasmas had burnout issues and these t.v.s were thicker than LED’s, we were a little apprehensive. But, when we finally saw this one in the store, and finally brought it home, we were both floored by the picture quality, the 3D quality, the ease of use, the apps that were available, and so on. I mean, the list goes on and on. Plus, Samsung has added a feature that prevents burnout now, so that issue is now moot. If I could tell anyone to get a new television, there is no question which one I’d recommend.
TV is on wall in my home theater room. Bought mostly for movies however now I watch everything in the room. I’m shocked at how good the picture is however I am really just a casual user and can’t tell the difference between shades of blacks that you read about in all of the reviews. I did not expect to use the 3D feature however I gave it a try for the Masters as DirecTV was broadcasting. The 3D quality was beyond amazing. I felt like I was watching a live action event out of a window. 3D movies don’t do much for me but after watching a live event in 3D I can see why all of the television manufacturers are pushing 3D sets. I think that the improvement in watching a sporting event in 3D vs. HD is greater than the difference I remember when I first watched the Olympics in HD vs. Standard Def.
I replaced my 63″ Plasma with a 64″ Samsung 3D Plasma 7000 series HD TV. By far the CLEAREST Picture (even in 2D – standard picture format). The 3D is INCREDIBLE! My neighbor was so dumfounded when he saw the Masters Golf in 3D, that he said “now I know where my $$ is going tomorrow”! Remote lights up & is easy to follow. With 3D Blue Ray you have unblievable choices. In 1954 I saw the “House of Wax in 3D at the movies. The Samsung Plasma 7000 Series makes it even BETTER!
